Mac Frampton Concert

NORTH CASCADES CONCERT BAND TO PERFORM

“An Evening with Mac Frampton”

The North Cascades Concert Band and it’s Conductor/Music Director, Robert Pattermann, announce that the North Cascades Concert Band will be performing a concert with acclaimed concert pianist Mac Frampton on Friday evening, March 15, 2019, 7:30 PM at Bethany Covenant Church - 1318 S 18th St,  Mount Vernon,

The band will play a variety of selections featuring Mac Frampton including Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin, and the Warsaw Concerto by Richard Addinsell. The Warsaw Concerto is a significant short work for piano and orchestra , written for the 1941 British film Dangerous Moonlight. The concerto is an example of programme music written in the style of Sergei Rachmaninoff. This particular concerto initiated a trend for similar short piano concertos in the Romantic style. The concert will conclude with several solo selections chosen by Mac Frampton.

Born in South Carolina, , Frampton started playing the piano at the age of three. His formal training began at five and he made his professional debut at 8 years old. While still a student, Mac gained national prominence as a medal-winning semifinalist in the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. After his undergraduate musical studies at Erskine College, he earned a Doctor of Musical Arts from  the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.  His  unique piano style has proved extremely durable over the years.  Based on classical technique and drawing liberally from jazz and rock idioms, the sound of Mac Frampton continues to build a wider audience with every concert.

Over the past twenty-four years, Mac has recorded 22 albums, a motion picture soundtrack, and has teamed with performing artists such as Roberta Flack, Victor Borge, Louis Nye, The Fifth Dimension, and Metropolitan Opera star Roberta Peters, among many others.
